Annette Dittert is a writer, columnist, filmmaker and reporter, who is the Bureau Chief and Senior Correspondent in London for the German television channel ARD. She is one of Germany and Britain’s most prominent commentators on German politics and was awarded ‘Political Journalist of the Year’ in 2019 for her reporting on Brexit.
Dr Canan Atilgan has been Head of the United Kingdom and Ireland Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung since October 2024. Prior to this, she has headed the Middle East and North Africa Division in the European and International Cooperation Department from May 2020.
Dan Hough is Professor of Politics at the University of Sussex. He is an expert in German politics, Die Linke and the legacy of the GDR. He is the co-author of The Left Party in Contemporary German Politics (2007) and The Politics of the New Germany (2011), and regularly contributes to British and international media outlets.
The event will be chaired by Dr Sofia Collignon, the Director of the Mile End Institute and an expert in the study of candidates, elections, political parties and gendered violence against political elites. Sofia is a Senior Lecturer in Comparative Politics at Queen Mary and acted as an official election observer during the German Federal Election in February 2025.
