The Friedrich Ebert Foundation in London is excited to invite BGA members to the panel discussion Standing up for Armed Forces personnel in the UK and Germany on Monday 17 July 6pm-7.30pm in Wilson Room, Portcullis House, Parliament.

Please see below the details provided for this event by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation:

In both the UK and Germany, there is deep respect for the serving men and women of our Armed Forces. But with personnel living in poor accommodation, satisfaction with service life falling and retention rates dropping, there is a need to renew the moral contract with our Armed Forces to keep our countries safe and allow us to fulfil our NATO obligations.

In this panel discussion, we want to discuss with Eva Högl (Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces of Germany), John Healey MP (Shadow UK Defence Secretary), George Robertson, Baron Robertson of Port Ellen (10th NATO Secretary General) and Fred Thomas (former Royal Marines captain) ideas and lessons from the UK and Germany on how best we can support our troops, improve service life and ensure we have the right kit for our frontline forces.

The event will be chaired by Ed Turner from the Aston Centre for Europe.
